The Diabetes MILES (Management and Impact for Long-term Empowerment and Success) Study is an international collaborative established by Prof Jane Speight, Foundation Director of  The Australian Centre for Behavioural Research in Diabetes (ACBRD)  and Prof Frans Pouwer from the Center of Research on Psychology in Somatic diseases (CORPS) Center of Research on Psychology in Somatic diseases, Tilburg University, The Netherlands.

The Diabetes MILES Study constitutes a series of national surveys of people with diabetes and their loved ones in various countries, with a focus on psychosocial aspects of living with diabetes such as psychological health, self-care beliefs and activities, and unmet needs. Each Diabetes MILES survey includes the same set of core measures addressing key topic areas. Each initiative can add further measures that address topics of particular relevance to that country or sub-group, or that are consistent with the expertise and research interests of the team conducting the study.
